12:00pm - 1:00pm: Foundations of Addiction Treatment in the Outpatient Setting: Screening, Medication Options, and Supporting Recovery Across Conditions presented by Josh Blum, MD.
This session offers an overview of addiction medicine basics in the outpatient setting, including how to effectively screen for substance use disorders (SUDs), using motivational interviewing, to implement evidence-based treatment and harm reduction strategies. We will focus on Alcohol, Nicotine, and Cannabis use, as well as how to apply these strategies to patients on long-term opioid therapy.

An introduction to intensive outpatient programs, ASAM levels of care, and strategies for expanding access in rural communities—addressing barriers, integrating telehealth, and supporting unhoused populations.

6:30pm - 7:30pm: Addiction Care in Inpatient and ED Settings: Withdrawal Management, Induction, and Therapeutic Reconciliation presented by Don Stader, MD, FACEP, FASAM.
This session provides an overview of addiction treatment in inpatient and emergency department settings, with a focus on withdrawal management protocols, initiating treatment through ED or hospital-based inductions, and using therapeutic reconciliation to reduce stigma, build trust, and support continuity of care across the care continuum.
